How to play Baccarat

Baccarat is played with a large group of players, usually between 12 and 14. The game is played with standard decks of cards, usually either six or eight, which are shuffled prior to the commencement of the game. The cards are then placed in a shoe before a cut card is inserted 16 cards from the end. When the card is drawn, it signals the last hand of the current shoe. Once all the players have made their bets, a two-card hand is dealt to both the 'player' and the 'banker' spots on the table. The cards are dealt one at a time, beginning with the player. These are the only two hands dealt in baccarat, with all the other bets on the table resting on which way these two hands go.

The total of the two hands are then compared, before specific rules surrounding the drawing of cards are employed to decide whether or not the player is entitled to receive a further card. If they do receive a third card, the value of that card will determine whether the banker also gets a third card. Finally, the outcome is determined when the two totals are compared.
