DESTRIER (nap) can come out on top in a cracking novice chase at Ayr today.

The race that Dan Skelton’s six-year-old won at Southwell in December has turned out to be one of the strongest contests of the season.

The second, third and fourth, Another Crick, Doc Carver and Castafiore, have all won since and Destrier managed to give plenty of weight all round.

He faces two formidable opponents in Reivers Lad, who Nicky Richards thinks the world of, and Sam’s Gunner who won the EBF Final at Sandown last season.
