Wolves have taken everyone by surprise with their Europa League exploits this season, but are they good value to win the competition?Standing in good stead
In the first leg of their round of 32 tie against Espanyol, Nuno Esperito Santo’s side were odds-on favourites to win the game, but very few predicted that they would dispatch of the Catalans so convincingly, eventually running out 4-0 winners on the night.
That comfortable buffer stands them in good stead as they head to Barcelona for the second leg and you’ll be seeing lots of football tips and previews backing them to win that game in 90 minutes. However, the value may lie in backing Wolves in the outright market.
At the time of writing, Wolves are best priced 9/1 to win the Europa League outright and that price may even shrink once they (presumably) progress to the last 16. So, if you have any free bets sitting in your account, you may want to use them to back The Wanderers before the price shortens.
Each-way could be the shrewd option
For those of you that believe Wolves can get to the final of the competition but may succumb to a more formidable opponent on the big stage, then backing them each-way is your best option.
For outright markets, the place terms are 1/2 for the first two places, meaning if you take the best price 9/1 about now, you’ll get a 9/2 return on the place part of your stake if Wolves make it to the final. The best part about this is that you can rest assured that you’re already in profit and can cheer on the Premier League side in the final in the hopes of winning even more should they succeed!
It’s also worth noting that the outright market covers extra-time and penalties so, unlike your regular 90-minute markets, an outright bet will still be settled as a win if your team wins the competition in extra-time or by a penalty shootout.
So are Wolves good value to win the Europa League? At the current prices, yes.
