Manchester City vs Real Madrid - who will come out on top?

Manchester City has clearly lost any chance they might have had of winning the Premiership title for the third time in a row. Liverpool, with a 19-point lead, have the league all sewn up. But a manager of Pep Guardiola's standing cannot afford for his team to fail on the silverware front. His target will now be winning the Champions League.

There is only one problem with that. To stay in with a chance, they must first beat Real Madrid when they meet them over two legs. They are due to play them on the 26th of February and the 17th of March. If you like making football predictions, why not back it by placing a free bet?

A few weeks ago, the odds would have definitely favoured Manchester City. Their form saw them vying with Liverpool for Premiership supremacy, whereas Real Madrid was being shown the way by their arch-rivals Barcelona. But Zinedine Zidane has a magnificent record with Los Blancos, and he is determined that his side will be Champions League Champions.

Real won the competition three times in succession under his management, and to win it again on his return to the Bernabéu is his aim. Who will come out on top? Pep or Zidane? The sports betting on this one is likely to be intense.

When it comes to players in form, Manchester City has the edge with Sergio Aguero. He is their all-time record goalscorer. He is also currently the second top scorer in the EPL with 16 goals to his credit, just one goal behind Jamie Vardy. But his average time per goal is 69 minutes whereas Vardy's is 114 minutes. It is a clear indication of the Argentinian’s form.

Real Madrid, however, doesn't really have a striker in top form at the moment. Up until recently, it would have been Cristiano Ronaldo. But since he left for Juventus, Gareth Bale, his supposed successor, has not achieved. However, he is a player for big occasions, and if Zidane does play him, he could steal the headlines.

Manchester City tipped to win the Champions League

Whoever does manage to make further progress in the competition after their two-leg confrontation, that side could well go on to win the Champions League outright.
